Computer giant Apple has expressed interest in making a deal to supply its tablet computers to the Education Ministry for use in Thai schools.

ministry's student tablet project.
アップル社の代表団は12日、タイのウォラワット・アウアピンヤクン教育大臣と会談し、同省が推進する学生向けタブレット端末配布計画に対し、同社の製品が有益なものであるとの提案を行いました。
The minister said Apple and his ministry would form a working group to test how Apple products could serve the project.
ウォラワット大臣は、アップルと同省の共同研究グループを組織し、いかにアップル社製品が同計画に寄与するのかをテストすると話しました。
If the test proved positive, the ministry would be interested, despite the high prices.If not, the ministry would choose an Android operating system, Mr Woravat said.
テストの結果が良好だった場合、製品自体が高価であるものの、同省は（アップル社の端末に）関心を示すことになりそうです。ただし、結果が悪かった場合、同省はアンドロイド端末を選択するだろうと、同大臣は話しています。
"What is needed today is technology that can be really applied.We are not buying devices because all of them are the same...The Education Ministry will make an important decisio,. whether it will buy only devices or devices with systems," the education minister said.
「今日必要であるものは、実際に活用できる技術です。どの端末も似たようなものであるから、我々は端末を購入していない。教育省は、端末だけを購入するのか、あるいは端末とシステムを導入するのか、重要な決定を行わねばならない。」と、大臣はコメントしています。
Chinapat Phumrat, secretary-general of the Basic Education Commission, said Apple had argued that it had the best educational solutions.
基礎教育委員会のチナパット・プムラット次官によると、アップル社は同社製品が教育的な問題の解決に最も適していると売り込みました。
In response, the Education Ministry said that Thai students would study not only to gain knowledge but also to have jobs and income in the future.
これに対し、教育大臣は、タイの学生たちは、知識を得るばかりではなく、将来的な就職や収入の確保のために学ばなければならないと答えています。
Therefore, Thai students would need tablet computers that would enable them to develop applications for worldwide markets, he said.
このため、タイの学生は、世界マーケットに通用するアプリケーションを開発することができるタブレット型コンピューターが必要なのだと、大臣は話しました。
The distribution of tablet computers to students was one of election campaign promises of the governing Pheu Thai Party.
